In my flagship book, A Sudden Shot, I wrote that it takes good people to catch bad people and, thank heaven, there are many more good people in this world than bad.
Good people are gathering on Monday Sep 26 to raise money to help fight the bad guys and I am delighted to join them and give my remarks. It's the Catch a Crook Golf Tournament to raise money for the Silent Witness program. Silent Witness, in which private money is offered as a reward for those who can give information to solve a crime, played a crucial role in ending the crime spree that is chronicled in A Sudden Shot.
I visited with renowned serial killer survivor Paul Patrick about the event. He was very happy to sign a book for me to give away at Catch a Crook. As a result of a random crime, Paul is in a wheelchair...on a good day. Mostly he's in bed...on a not bad day. Often, he's in a hospital bed, which is painful, demoralizing and really puts a crimp in all the plans you had for your life. Silent Witness helped prevent more of our citizens from getting shot by the same criminal.
One lucky person will get this book, with Paul's very special signature in it, at the tournament. Hope to see you there.
