Is Juan Martinez Married? - Camille Gives the Answer

Please visit the Bookstore tab above to browse
Pssst! Going to jail, buying documents, and everything else it takes to get this kind of info for the blog takes time and money! Every time you make a purchase here, it helps me be able to do more for you!

(If you hear audio upon arriving at this site, please click here and hit pause on the video. Sorry! I'm working on it!)

If you watch the Jodi Arias trial - the formerly blonde bombshell who killed her lover 3 different ways - you not only know who Juan Martinez is, you have an opinion of him.

Martinez is the diminutive prosecutor with the giant personality. I live tweet from inside the Jodi Arias
courtroom and twitter demands brevity, so I always refer to him as simply, "Juan."
Juan Martinez looks at Jodi Arias video on the monitor on the prosecution table

His first name has been co-opted by the web, anyway, as fans frequently refer to him as "Juanderful," "Juantastic," and other clever puns showing enthusiastic admiration for the short, slender man who displays the cerebral machismo of a Captain Kirk, with an identically equal commitment to justice and to winning.

Instead of zooming from galaxy to galaxy setting wrongs to right wherever he goes, Juan Martinez dashes from courtroom to courtroom discharging his considerable energy like a phaser set to stun on witnesses and defendants who don't know what hit them.

Juan is unabashedly aggressive in the courtroom, mocking witnesses, raising his voice, never letting a single point go by unchallenged.  Now that he has a worldwide television audience, it turns out the ladies love him for it.

Some of the most commonly used search terms now to find this blog are, "Is Juan Martinez married?" or "Juan Martinez wife?" or "Juan Martinez available?"

Sometimes I have answered that question directly to commenters who post the question in the trails. I figured it was time I made it easier to find the answer with a post of its own.

Ladies, Juan Martinez is NOT married.

Now for the bad news: he is not single, either.

Juan Martinez is in a long-term relationship with someone who fell for that terrier-like charisma of his long before he was famous.  She has been keeping a close eye on the trial, closer than you would think, but you haven't seen her.

Why am I being so coy about naming her or giving more info about her?  Because they are. Well before fame came into their lives, Juan and his lady love guarded their privacy carefully.  With the unrelenting glare of TV cameras from all over the world converged on him every day all day, their privacy for their personal lives is even more sweet and I will not be the one to break it for them.

I will tell you that she is as smitten with him as you are and speaks of him with great fondness and admiration. So you can all rest assured that he is treated well and given his due portion of loving companionship.

I can also tell you that he is incredibly lucky to have her, as well. She is physically just gorgeous. She is highly educated. She has considerable professional accomplishments of her own. I guarantee you would all like her.

Juan Martinez was not a national figure before the Jodi Arias trial but to those of us who have been in the Maricopa County courthouse for many years before Jodi ever tried on her first pair of jail stripes, he has been a familiar figure, handling many of the most sensational murder trials in this county. Some of us know his better half, most do not.

Juan also happens to be a polarizing figure. Some consider him a bully, not a bulldog. I've even had commenters on this blog suggest the temper he displays in court is a symptom of a scary man and fear he may even be dangerous as a partner.

I can say unequivocally that is a bizarre accusation of the wildest kind. Without having actually taken her clothes off for any forensic exam, I can tell you I have seen his sweetheart often enough and know enough about her to assure you she is no shrinking violet and displays all the qualities of one of the most capable women you could ever meet. Frankly, she could probably best him in a physical confrontation--not that such a thing has ever happened!--because of both her character and his small size. In other words, if you dressed them both in WWF scary outfits and dropped them in a ring together, I wouldn't know which one to bet on. So please put that ridiculous thought out of your mind. Feel free to dislike Juan, but don't worry about his private life or his loved ones.

But most of you adore him. You can't get enough of him. You will be sorry to hear that during the Jodi Arias trial, a TV production company that was working on a piece about one of my cases was having a hard time reaching him. I was able to help them out by passing on their message to him in person in the hallways.

Unfortunately, the Chandler Police Department ruined your chances of seeing Juan on TV for that particular story because they refused to cooperate, so the TV crew had to kill the story.  It was the Jamie Laiaddee case, which is my story "Trophy Wife" in Masters of True Crime. In that case, your favorite prosecutor got some measure of satisfaction for another grieving family, remarkable because the body has never been found, making it a far more difficult a case than Jodi's. Not only no body, but no crime scene has ever been found, either. Rick Valentini, the man on trial, maintained that Jamie is still alive and has simply left town on her own.

But Juan Martinez ninja-ed his way through that enormous obstacle and got Valentini convicted of 2nd degree murder. Valentini will be wearing an orange jumpsuit for the better part of the next 50 years.

Juan Martinez has prosecuted many interesting cases and I will feature more of them. Here's one of the more bizarre. < < click

Just a sliver of the crowd in front of the courthouse on Jodi Arias verdict day, as seen from the KPNX set

So many of you have discovered this fiery and focused prosecutor through the Jodi Arias trial. You have fallen in love with his saying to witnesses what you wish you could say to them yourselves. You've been impressed with his tight control of his case and his always-ready organization skills. You've admired his passionate speeches to the jury, in which he used no notes and spoke for hours from the facts and points in his head. You loved him when he pointed at Jodi and called her "a liar and killer."

You consider yourself his biggest fan.

Just remember, he does have one fan who is even more ardent and committed than you are. She's proud that all you ladies admire him from afar.  She's amused that he's become a rock star to you.

But mostly she's very happy she found him first.

(If she ever gives me permission, I will "introduce" you to her. But I won't out her, so don't ask! To the few who think she is me, she isn't. Really. Don't get me in trouble with her, please.)

I love how he cross examines witnesses. He gets to the truth. I love love watching him in the court room. I knew he would get justice for Travis, you can tell how much he cares about the victim and their family. I can't wait until tomrrow. I hope Juan writes a book, I will buy it and I hope he does an interview after the trial is over. Juan behaves so professionally in the courtroom. Go Juan, justice for Travis!! I also think Juan's lady love is a lawyer or prosecutor! I too hope we can "meet" her sometime from the tv ofcourse.

    4. Thank you for answering this for us, there is NOTHING on the web about his personal life! You are also a great writer! I will definitely check out your books. I also like how you left us guessing who his significant other is...I have the feeling she must be a lawyer or judge???hmmm...

    5. Yes I think you are right about not disclosing personal info. about Juan Martinez. I went thru a period where I thought Jodi Arias might be acquitted, and I emailed someone that I was concerned for his safety and the safety of his family. I was feeling certain Arias would try to harm him or his family.

    6. I enjoyed your article. Juan is an excellent prosecutor and he has such passion for finding justice for the victim and their family. I wasn't surprised that he has someone. I would have been very surprised if he didn't. I enjoy watching him cross a witness. He is Arizona's best prosecutor and has an excellent record.

    7. How would you know so much about him? And why does anyone care about this man's personal life? No one knew who he was till the Arias trial. Yes, he's a great prosecutor. I think people are going a little too far by posting some ridiculous tributes and drooling over him. He is a human being like any of us. I highly doubt he even takes the time to read this blog. Is he easy to find in the court house? Can anyone call his office and talk to him? It is really weird there are no photos of him in public. I was sure by now some obsessed retard would be following him. It seems he obviously has good security and I would too if a bunch of nutty old women were posting idiotic tributes and drooling over me oh and yeah he of course is getting security]...JA has some retarded followers,,,,do yourselves all a favor and go do something productive. I am so glad I don't live in hot AZ. Newsflash....her case won't be over for yrs anyway even if she gets death which she should. No appeals just kill the crazy b****. And really if it is just penalty phase get on with it already. Jan of 2014...looks like this court abides by defense rules which is bogus....

She is highly educated. She has considerable professional accomplishments of her own. I guarantee you would all like her."

    10. I used to be very fond of Mr Martinez' court persona, too but not so much anymore. His constant tactics to discredit the opposing witnesses and to borderline bully them, are sometimes rather annoying and silly, especially when he is up against an excellent expert witness (granted, this does not happen very often). In such instances, I cannot help thinking that it is all just a game for him, like for a child, testing the waters to see how far he can go. And that is when I get rather a bit angy at him for wasting expensive court time. Some may say, that this is what attorneys do. Probably true for most of them. However, I think, a truely great attorney does not need such means to convince a jury.
Mind you, my critics here of Mr Martinez do not apply to his private persona. I do not know him at all, and would not be surprised to learn that he is the sweetest, most considered and charming guy.

    1. I do understand, Camille. When my father was D.A. (of Norfolk County, MA), a man escaped from prison and came after him. I remember having police guards outside of my second grade classroom. I'm in my 40's now, but as a kid, my dad was in the papers and on local television pretty frequently. With social media and cameras in the courtroom, the stakes are certainly higher. Thanks for your reply, Debra

    3. Well this info was good 2 know, but if I was his lady friend. I would take solace in the fact that he has so many females enamored with him. For 5 months HLN's guests experts has bashed this dude relentlessly. They have criticized him for every thing women seem to love about him and they are his peers. I would be so happy that the population they try to imply will be so offended, because JA is claiming DP. Or because Alyce Lala Land is an "older nice, soft spoken" lady. There same song different artist everyday commentary, would be enraging to me. By HLN's barometer, Mr. M should be the most hated man in America. She should relax and be easy. It's about to be over and life as she knew it before will return. Mr. M. will go back to being the brilliant, ultra prepared, thorough, dedicated, and passionate master of his craft in anonymity. She should look at it this way, imagine how Nurmi's wife feels right now. I bet he ain't got not even one female or male for that matter admirer.

    2. Besides Juan's masterful grasp of this case and the killer, he showed he had tremendous sense of humor, when appropriate.

Jodi was the bully with the foulest mouth and deeds. LaVillianette ran a close second to JA in snarky rudeness and dirty thinking. Willmutt is not worth a comment

    3. Anonymous of June 7 2013. You don't know what you're talking about. you're nitpicking at nothing. ALL the attorneys used cuss words at the sidebar so what?

I suppose you think it was proper for Wilmott to use hand signals to LAV while she was on witness stand telling her when to NOT answer certain questions? Or when she would accuse JM of misconduct because he was yelling at her witness or "intimidating" her witnesses simply because he would tell them to answer with a yes or no. He wasn't yelling either he just wouldn't let them ramble on and on and on like they wanted to. If Ms Laviolette had NOT been decidedly combative then JM wouldn't have had to speak louder. she kept pretending to not understand his questions then had the nerve to say he needed a time out. Excuse me, but when the court is questioning you it doesn't matter what tone they use - you as the witness are required to do as instructed which was to answer yes or no. You don't disrespect the court by telling them if they were in your classroom you would tell them to take a time-out. Its just not done & highly disrespectful to the court. I suppose you must've thought that when Jennifer constantly objected to Martinez's questions before he could finishing asking them was proper court room behavior by Wilmott? And then she would re-object with the same argument after he finished? Did you happen to notice that the Judge overruled 95% of Wilmotts objections advising her she ALREADY ruled on the objection previously? Did you think it was respectful of Jennifer to continue to object to the same thing the judge had already ruled on? hmm? and yes the Judge threw out every single motion made by the defense that accused Martinez of prosecutorial misconduct for good reason too. they presented no proof - just their accusations. how about every single motion by the defense claiming a mistrial? There's a perfectly good legal reason for her dismissals of those too. look it up yourself. The judge was very careful in her rulings because she did not want any cause for appeals. All these motions for mistrial by either accusing the prosecutor or accusing the media of stupid stuff were based on nothing but Kurt Nurmi's & Jennifer Willmott's imagination. Not a single piece of proof submitted by them. just their empty words.

    4. The moment when Ms. LaViolette treated Martinez like a kindergartener was irritating in the extreme to those of us inside the courtroom where the tension is so high and the interactions so personal. Very memorable moment. And what a twisted pretzel of logic: "If you were in my venue, I could control you directly! But we're in the people's venue, where by definition I'm supposed to be subject to other rules, so I'm gonna try to control you anyway by other means!" She may not like it but in court, the lawyers really are in charge -- NOT the witnesses.

    1. He is definaly a cutie ! I thought I read somewhere that both his parents were illiterate , is that true . I'm only asking because I am myself Hispanic born in Peru and came here when I was 6 years old , I can still remember how difficult it is to be here and not know the language . If the story is true it makes him an even bigger superhero in my eyes . Either way he truly is a real American success story for everybody !!! .....off topic I think so many people take the American way of living for granted . I am very proud to be Peruvian but will always be great full of the sacrifices my parents made so that my sister and I can have the opportunities that are only available in this great country . God bless the USA and the Alexander's , who have received as much justice as one can on this earth thru the hard work of Juan Martinez , we also can't forget detective Flores , both of who show that coming here legally doing the right thing and working hard we can be a benefit to this country! Ur an awesome writer btw , a new favorite of mine ! .....one last thing - u do know how pAssionate Latino mem are and I've heard ( husband is American lol ) that carries thru to the bedroom !!!! RIP Travis .

    3. I fully agree with you.He has no respect for the judge ,or his other lawyers in this case.Using the four letter word in court speaks volumes of where and what he stands for.As we no he has one thing on his mind, DEATH, If he doesn't get the death p. in this case.Look out. And the way he treated the witness was unbelieveable. And yet there are people out there saying is Mr. wonderful.Go figure.

    4. In the contrary, I believe that Mr.Martinez is a wonderful, strong, passionate, romantic and understanding man that many women would just dream of to have by their side.I think that he is capable of a deep and sincere love, true sacrifice.Additionally, I am sure that he is a type of man who can tell the type of woman he would love the very minute he spots her.Is he not an excellent judge of character alltogether?

      Delete
    5. @Anonymous June 8 at 8:33am
What are your reasons for claiming he has only "DEATH" on his mind? Can you read his mind? Do you realize how crazy you sound? "if he doesn't get the death p in this case Look out" What is that supposed to mean? what are you trying to insinuate? what process does your mind goes through to come to these assertions? Why does JM have no respect for the Judge? What did he do?
At any time did you ever actually listen to the context in which Martinez used the 4 letter word which you say "speaks volumes of where & what he stands for". Did it EVER ONCE cross your mind that he was in fact quoting someone? or did you think he used it because he likes to talk that way? SERIOUSLY? you cannot be that dumb. Attorneys drop the F-bomb all the time during trial when they're quoting someone. Its not disrespecting the court either. But I suspect you already knew that. that's why your offended-ness feels contrived & disingenuous. Grow up. This isn't your first high profile case & pretending to be offended makes you lack credibility on top of your ridiculous assertions.
What you SHOULD find shocking is the underhanded manner of the defense team claiming the victim was an abusive, violent, sexual deviant was despicable. Jodi was the abuser. You should be shocked at yourself for drinking their koolaid and liking it.
I don't know how anyone could think the sneaky, disgusting, lying tactics of the DT were respectful to the court. They deliberately dragged out witness cross & re-cross asking same questions over/over allowing long winded answers to go on/on.
How about using Alice Laviolette as an unbiased "expert" evaluator of abuse when she wasn't qualified? She was a licensed therapist, no education in psychology, criminal psychology, forensic psychology or psychiatry. But she tried to pass herself off as an "expert" in those fields until JM made her admit she wasn't licensed or educated in any of those areas - a requirement to be able to call yourself an "expert" and to legally validate abuse claims.
Lets say she was licensed & qualified to validate after conducting an unbiased evaluation. Then why didn't she? She never interviewed anyone except Jodi. No coworkers, family, ex-boyfriends. She never interviewed a single person related to Travis. She based her decision without the slightest effort made. highly unprofessional & hypocritical. No doctor would ever base their decision on such an unprofessional evaluation. Yet Alice LAV, sat in that courtroom & defiantly claimed over/over that she WAS qualified & in her expert opinion Travis was an abuser, who beat Jodi psychologically & physically into sexual submissiveness. NONE of which there was any proof or indication of. In fact there was proof that pointed to the opposite. but your honorable DT continued to hammer the lie on re-cross that Alice was qualified. Willmott directing Alice to say that she didn't need any license to make her claims valid because she had many years of experience working with abused women. WOW pretty arrogant to openly dismiss the legal requirements as unecessary to further your self proclaimed expertise. LAV went too far. She was not a psychological evaluater. Her arrogance in thinking she had the required experience was laughable. She took the job hoping to promote her book. She deserves every professional fall out that will come her way due to her disrespect of the law & the medical profession. if you still think LAV was qualified to give an expert opinion no wonder you twisted up the meaning of right & wrong and don't know the difference between honesty & lying.

  28. Count me in as another admirer of Juan Martinez with a huge, huge crush (what can I say? Smart is sexy.) I'm guilty of mild cyber-stalking as well in an attempt to find out more about his personal life - which is actually rather unusual for me. I just fervently hoped he had a strong and loving support network at home, and I'm so glad to learn that he does!

His lady love sounds like a great person and I'm also so glad to know they're still smitten with each other - d'aawww! :D

What impressed me about Juan Martinez was not just his passion, dynamic presence, and brilliance (did he reference his notes even a dozen times?!) but the fact that, given the preponderance of evidence in this case for premeditation, he still prosecuted it like he had nothing on his side except common sense.

I hope Mr. Martinez enjoys his fifteen minutes of international fame (and I'll bet he's incredibly bemused by it all: 57 years old and suddenly a rock star?!) and I hope this attention and admiration brings only good things. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family.

PS - I've only just stumbled onto your blog; I'll need to read more of your posts and check out your books.

      Delete
    2. I have no doubt about that - all of the news reports I've read about his other cases highlight his, erm, tenacity and passion in the courtroom. :)

I'm in Canada, and I'm surprised by the number of his previous cases I've heard about: the sleepwalking defense; Faylene Grant; Jamie Laiaddee. I had no idea until now that the cases all had the same prosecutor. Given the facts of the cases against Faylene's and Jamie's killers, I'm even more impressed!

  29. Thank you for this smartly written article, Camille. Mr. Martinez has indeed been a bright light in such a dark, dark story. His dedication to justice and obvious admiration for Travis has been reassuring thru-out this ordeal. I'm pleased to learn he has someone special.
He comes to court so prepared and focused and I find his memory ASTOUNDING. Since you are in journalism and if Mr. Martinez and his lady don't mind, perhaps he would be a good candidate for one of the most fascinating people of 2013. Again, thanks for confirming what we ladies have been wondering is such a tactful way.

  30. I do love this. I love Juan as well. I'm a 35 year old from central Kentucky, and I have crushed on Juan and Flores actually since the case began. Like someone said earlier smart is sexy and those are two seriously smart awesome men. It took me a while to figure out where I knew Juan from when I started watching the case, then I realized it was from an episode of Snapped on Wendi Adriano. And when I realized he had put her out of commission as well. That's when my undying love of him just blossomed. I joke, but in all seriousness I do love him and Flores because they are smart, classy men who are working at one thing and one thing only. Justice for victims, and nothing means more than that! Thanks for the fantastic post Camille! You rock along with Juan and Esteban! I say we all go to people magazine and get Juan on the cover of the sexiest man alive

  33. Camille,

Thank you so much for this article shedding light on Juan Martinez's private life. Although I admire Mr. Martinez, I do not harbor a crush on him. I have, however, thought about the tremendous emotional toll that trying capital cases could play on a prosecutor.

I am very happy to hear that he has someone in his life from whom he can gather emotional support and love.

Thank you for sharing this information and for keeping her identity a secret. I pray that God will continue to bless them in their relationship. Obviously, they are the presidents and #1 members of a well-deserved mutual admiration society.

  34. Juan Martinez will always have admirers.
    Why? Because he MERITS them!

He is an incredibly brilliant, passionate, savvy, and sexy man.
Honestly, who couldn't have a bit of a crush?

He reminds me of my husband who is also a well known legal malpractice lawyer.

The funny thing is that when I gushed in front of my lawyer hubby about just how awesome I thought Juan is, my hubby actually got a bit jealous! LOL

Now Juan's awesomeness is making at least one husband in American jealous!!!

  37. Camille, I let my mind wander outside of the courtroom while reading this piece on Mr. Martinez. Your words spoke volumes on the private life of this power couple without revealing intimate details that would invade their privacy. My experience with true intellectual power couples is they are most times far more harmonious & stable than couples that are unequal intellectually which many times equates to one being more immature than the other & is not based solely on higher education...a sheepskin for common sense would be a good thing to be able to hang on the wall!

As a young woman 12 years into widowhood that still doesn't date, I have an overwhelming desire to "mother" everyone, I just seem to take great joy when someone is happy & secure. Could it be because I sat with the family through the murder trial of a good friend that was discovered by her then 8 year old son & have seen the devastation in that young man 15 years later? Maybe it's because my own wonderful husband was the victim of a vehicular homicide that nearly killed my son, 14 year old nephew & several other members of my family when they stopped to help a young man that had rolled his car on the Interstate, no charges were ever filed against the driver of the 18 wheeler that slammed into our race car rig. Yep, this old trauma nurse has lived through some trauma, I surmise it is the reason I live vicariously through the happiness & accomplishment of others. After seeing Mr. Martinez in that courtroom working fast on his feet & not letting anything get past him, I was hoping he had someone at home to decompress with & it not necessarily be discussing the Arias trial.

Okay, I already wanted him to have a strong partner & now that I know he does, I will join the ranks of long distance crushing on him but maintain the desire to momma bear hug him & his ladylove...love the cheerier side of this horrific experience called Jodi.

His fans(including me!) have watched the trial and grown to love his confidence, passion and compassion for the Alexander family.Anyone with a brain could watch and see that this case became personal for him.You wanted the good guy to win, and he was the good guy that worked very hard for years and brought it home.I hope he gets a

  40. This article was a link to Mr. M's support page that's why I'm leaving a comment. I don't believe this story was necessary, nor will it deterred any Juanies. Mr. M's admirers are harmless. Most are not even in AZ. Women have fell in luv with the dude because he's a good guy doing a good thing, for a good reason. In today's reality tv driven society that's rare. Women are not only rooting for good over evil, but falling in luv with the dude fighting for the good side. Mr. M gets torn to pieces each and everyday by HLN. These women are proof positive that there assessment is way off. This man has been fighting the good fight in anonymity for years. Let him enjoy his shine. This time in the lime light will be brief, let him enjoy it while it last. Most of Mr. M's female admirers are older then me, they're more then likely married and have kids. Why destroy these harlmess online dreams. It's not necessary. Whoever Mr. M's lady is she has no reason to be threaten by this fleeting "rock star" statues. Be happy for your man. Dudes like Hugh Jackman and Denzel Washington have been happily married for years and they both have tens of thousands of females in luv with them. Mr. M, enjoy your shine.

    1. Camille, I read over my post and I want to apologize to you. My words were poorly choosen. I did not mean the article was not necessary, even though those are the words I clearly wrote. I was referring to the seeminly defensive part. I'm simply saying that in the blink of an eye, this part of their life will be over. She need not be bothered at all by these harlmess fantasies. But in retrospect, as a woman. I feel her pain. I'm proud of Mr. M and I don't even know him. So I know she is. I get so mad at all the bashing dude gets for his every move on HLN everday all day. I just instinctively responded to what I deemed to be an admonishment of the luv he's getting. I've been letting HLN.com have it for 5 months, I guess I'm a little to defensive. Apologies again, charge it to my heart not my head.

  44. Thank you so much for posting that. I too had developed a crush on "the man" but that spark was quickly extinguished before it became a burning desire. Lol. For one, I thought a man like that has got to have someone in his life already, for two, I'm not good at long distance relationships, and three, I'm not in the position to be in any relationship at this time in my life anyway. So more power to him and his woman, she sounds amazing and a much better fit for him than I would ever be. I saw where someone posted on his support page that he's not married so since I haven't searched the question for a couple months, I thought I would one more time out of curiosity, and voila! There it is.
With that said, I can't help but add the admiration and respect I have for him has stayed constant. It was as if my head was down, shoulders drooped and then I looked up and there was this little man on TV giving everything he's got to bring justice. I'm quiet and a little shy so that was so inspiring and uplifting. It's been a long time since I've seen anyone fight the devil with that kind of aggressiveness and passion. That's my analogy of it anyway. He didn't waiver or falter nor did he seem to have that "I got this" attitude and ego when so many people were treating him like a star. He's a Prosecutor and it was impressive how he kept that in perspective and stayed focused.
I've learned some things about the justice system and court of law also because of him and the trial so I can't imagine ever forgetting him. I know I'm one of thousands of people who has been influenced by him, but still, I wanted to put my thank you out here too because he is one incredible Prosecutor and person. Thank you again Camille and thank you Mr. Martinez!

  48. I really enjoyed reading your article about Juan Martinez. I became interested in the case after seeing Jodi Arias being interviewed some time back. It was a jaw dropper because in so many ways she reminded me of a sinister soul from my past. Unlike Jodi though, my tormenter was more open about their evil intentions. They informed me that they wanted to kill me, and that because of their angelic like appearance and voice no one would find them guilty. Long story short, I ended up moving far away without leaving a forwarding address. Then when I heard the interview where Jodi said no jury would ever convict her it sort of reminded me of what my former tormenter said about no one ever finding them guilty.

Then when the trial started it was refreshing to see Juan Martinez' cross examination. Here was someone who I could tell really cared about truth and justice. Someone who is not deceived by the outward appearance of a person (unlike how the jury foreman was). It renewed my hope in the judicial system. I consider Juan Martinez to be a real life hero, who works diligently to protect society from evil psychopaths.

I'm so happy that he has someone special to share his life with. As the trial went on I wondered about that. He has such an intense and I'm sure at times very stressful job. I was hoping that after a hard day at work he had someone special who really loved him and that he's happy.

I recently had a dream about Mr. Martinez. I dreamt that I was walking in the park with my fiancé. Suddenly a criminal snuck up on us, knocked my fiancé out of the way and started to attack me. Then all of a sudden Juan Martinez ran to my rescue and knocked out my attacker, saving my life. I was so grateful that I invited him to my wedding. At the reception after dancing the first dance with my fiancé/husband, the second dance with my Dad, I danced the third dance with Mr. Martinez with the song Hero playing in the background.

"Prior to trial I respected Juan". Bad enough that she referred to him as "Juan", as if they were equals. 67. How easy it is to fool all of you. I have known and worked with Juan for years and years and I will tell you that he is not at all well respected by his own colleagues. He is a win at all costs prosecutor who will hide evidence ( he has been disciplined for this), delay providing Brady material to the defense ( he has been fined for this), goes well beyond the rules in his closing and victim impact statements ( the Supreme Court has cautioned him about this) and will twist words in his effort to ensure that he wins. He has been married several times and cheated on everyone of his wives. He is living with another prosecutor who dropped the request for death on a defendant rather than give a deposition about her involvement in a police effort to lie to the court.

I know that all of you think he's just terrific. He is not. The terrific ones are those who do their jobs within the confines of the law, honestly and with the goal being truth, not just a conviction. He has lost several death cases because of his bad behavior and the fact that the world thinks he is just so fabulous is quite sad. If he turned his "passion"
-- which his colleagues call aggression -- into a quest for justice, the criminal justice system would be a better place.

Since you are a reporter and in the courtroom during the trial, you must have sensed something. Maybe this is what goes on in Maricopa Co courthouses. Maybe you are just like the other fanatics who are obsessed with Juan and are in denial. Seems like Jen and Juan have been made heros, but isn't that what this country does anymore. Good decent people are screwed and people who cheat, lie, murder are made out to be the victims, the decent people are vilified.

  73. This guy (in my opinion) is the most corrupt Prosecutor in America, so corrupt, it's a wonder he is still practicing "Law". The Jodi Arias case is full of his bullying, his play acting, his lies (along with Flores) his sidekick, (Keystone Cop) his hiding/deleting/misplacing (computer/other) evidence, his shady dealings with the Judge who comes across as most the brightest spark-plug on the Bench.

The whole trial is a shenanigans of injustice, a violation of justice & a horrible show of how low the Judiciary has stooped in Arizona. It is a case that will go down in US history as the most un-fairest, biased trial ever. A media/cult circus that has only State clowns. This is not Justice it's a mockery of Justice, a sad sorry mess of a trial led by a Judge that is so bad at her job, one would have to cringe.

I am not surprised the world view of US, is now at a new low, not surprised there are numerous protest against the police there, not surprised the rule of law seems buried in the ground. This trial did that, it buried Justice in the ground, with the first trial it had one of the stupidest jury's ever cast....who were cajoled by your man, Juan, into giving the verdict he wanted rather than their own verdict.

Be ashamed, those of you who think this was Justice, because it wasn't...and now the circus continues & the blatant arrogance of this fake Prosecutor shows to the world what a right piece of evil he is. I feel sorry for you Americans, that have to put up with this kind of corrupt law. But just remember, one day, one or more of you may be falsely accused of premeditated murder & be in a court with these same actors, who lie through the teeth to make & give you a death penalty, with the media & the crowds baying for your blood, with an outcome of a "Death Sentence" staring you in the face. This is what is horrible about it that it could be anyone of you in future facing this scenario...the Injustice of it all. So that's why I say here, #IamJodi- because any of us could be Jodi, lied about, called a liar, bullied & falsely charged with premeditated murder. Shameful is that. Shameful is your version of the "Law"!

PS. As for the Judge, that another likewise story in the making.
